Early Years
There has never been a more exciting time to enter the field of Early Years. The Government has recognised the lives of children and young people can be improved if those who work with them have the best possible training and qualifications, and it has been designated as a priority area.
At West Kent College we recognise this need for excellence and are proud of our reputation with local employers and the strong working relationship we have with a wide range of child care settings across Kent and East Sussex. Our full-time courses lead either to progression to a further course or to recognised Early Years qualifications. All of the full-time teaching staff have professional qualifications in Early Years and have a wealth of experience working with children. You will also gain experience through work placements, which are an integral part of the course delivery, where you will have the opportunity to work alongside professionals in nurseries, schools and with families.

CACHE Diploma In Childcare & Education
in my words...
Why did you choose West Kent College?
It's more practical than studying at school.
What course did you choose?
CACHE Diploma In Childcare & Education.
Why?
I have always wanted to work with children.
What aspect of the course have you particularly enjoyed?
The practical experience of looking after children. The course has enabled me to look after children at both nursery and primary school as well as the under ones at home. My work experience included Rocking Horse Montessori and two days every week at Chiddingstone Primary School.
What ambitions will your course help you to fulfil?
I would like to be a nanny and have just been offered a place at Norland College, which is a highly prestigious place to gain a further childcare qualification, to complete the Foundation Degree.
What is the best thing about studying at West Kent College?
It’s opened up a lot more opportunities for me and I feel a lot more independent – even my parents have started treating me like an adult!
