Our equipment and facilities, among the best in the South East, are modern and upgraded regularly.

You will learn how to use a TV camera in a real studio, make videos and edit them in our JVC studio. You can take photographs in our photographic studio and develop and print them in the darkrooms. You can even broadcast to fellow students in the refectory from the College radio studio. You will gain valuable work experience, either by shadowing and observation or by working at a radio station or for a television production company.

in my words...

Why did you choose West Kent College?
I could study something more vocational than I could at school.

What course did you choose?
BTEC National Diploma in Photography

Why?
The combination of learning technical skills
while still getting the chance to be creative.

What aspect of the course have you particularly enjoyed?
Being independent and using the photographic facilities by myself. Also I really enjoyed the group visits to galleries in London.

Would you recommend West Kent College to others?
Yes – it’s an excellent bridge between school and University.

What other interests do you have outside of College?
I’m a Guide Leader and run my own guide group often going off camping, which is lots of fun. Other interests? Stars and astronomy have always fascinated me.
