Open Door
Open Door is designed for Students with learning Difficulties and Disabilities.
Our students follow timetables that have been designed specifically to suit the individual’s level of ability and areas of interest. The programme is intended to develop both independent living and employment- related skills, in a wide range of vocational and academic subjects.
Support will be made available to enable equal access to our courses by students who have learning difficulties and disabilities. Specialist staff, who are able to assess individual needs and advise on matters concerning the welfare, education and social development of our students, support these courses”.
Open Door allows young adults with learning difficulties and disabilities the opportunity to recognise and develop the real skills and abilities they have.
Work Experience and Working with Connexions
The focus for the Work Experience placement will be those students completing their final year on the Skills for Working Life Programme, enhancing the Core Unit: Health and Safety Working in close co-operation with Connexions and other outside agencies. The students are found placements that take into consideration preference in working environment and proximity to home.
The programme reflects on and develops skills required in the workplace, providing positive, real-life enrichment.
